Concentration Update

Concentration Words and Stuff

1.) The central idea for my concentration is: Focusing on the different feelings and intricacies of musical instruments by abstracting and altering their colors and viewpoints.

2.) The work that I have made so far in my concentration demonstrates an exploration of my idea because they all are musical instruments.  Also, I have played around with the different color palettes to emphasize a certain kind of music or mood associated to the musical instrument being painted.  I have also enlarged the image my paintings are based off of so that one can only see a certain part of the instrument.  This is because I wanted to focus in on the different intricacies of each musical instrument without making it obvious on which instrument is shown.

Concentration Progress

      Hello everybody,

I do believe that there are only a few moths left before we finish our concentrations! How exciting... :)
My concentration is an exploration of the colors and structures of musical instruments.  I really feel like I am getting somewhere with my concentration because I have grown as a painter.  My first piece that I made was really bad, and I felt lost at the beginning... But, I think I was able to turn it around and find my niche as an artist.
I would like to think that my work is very colorful and detailed.  Many people have told me to keep working on the large reflections aspect of my work for the rest of my concentration; however, many people have also expressed to me that they like my smaller, more detailed work.  I don't know what to do! I like both of the techniques, and neither is easier or harder than the other, so I am at a loss of direction.  Suggestions? :)
Here is the first painting that I did:
I really need help with deciding what to do to make it look better.  Should I keep the same general feel and just enhance it with shadows? Or should I completely start it over?  I know that something needs to be done to it because it doesn't fit in with the rest of my concentration... :( sad day... Anywho! Help is needed! <3

              Love,
                  Noelle
