What is a Concentration?
1.) The first artist I am going to talk about is Mariella Bisson. (http://www.mariellabisson.com)
2.) The underlying Idea in Ms. Bisson's work, I believe, is the way light affects a scene. Or perhaps, the different ways that light can enhance an experience. I think that this is the focus of her work because she uses large brush strokes to emphasize the light and where it hits the objects in her pictures.

1.) The next artist that I am going to talk about is Lynda Ater. (www.blackfish.com/artist/lynda-ater)
2.) I feel like the underlying idea in Ms. Ater's work is the power of simplicity. This is because even though there isn't a whole load of detail in her pieces, the works still have a sense of movement and intricacy.
3.) Ms. Ater employs the strategy of bold colors and simple designs in her works. These strategies create the sense of visual coherence.
4.) I definitely feel like Ms. Ater uses color and line within her pieces. She employs these elements and principles of art into her works to create movement and coherence.
Here are some of her works:
1.) The final artist that I am going to talk about is Anne Siems. (http://www.annesiems.com)
2.) The underlying idea in Ms. Siems' work is ceremonies. I actually read that on her page, and it is pretty hard to argue against that. She also uses texture and space in her paintings to create a sense of mystery and wonder.
3.) Within her work, Ms. Siems uses intricate details and faded colors to create visual coherence.
4.) Ms. Siem's employs space and texture within her pieces. I would say that she uses more texture than space, because the textures in her work are often what make the pieces so detailed. This detail is the most integral part of her works because it is what holds them together as a body.

4.) While Mariella is a painter, she also does many drawings and mixed media pieces. The way that she makes all of her works look cohesive is by using the color element and principle of art. She is very good at creating bold color pallets within her work.

Summer homework done!!
Hey all you artists! The school year has begun, and we have all turned in our summer projects! This summer I did drawings instead of photos because I can't get credit for photos this year. I finished all 12 of them! These three are my favorite; I really like the dog one because it is basically the most accurate representation of my dog. The bananas are cool because I used a lot of different colors when I shaded them. And the spoon just turned out a lot better than I thought it would! Here they are:

Hello Creatures of the deep! This is, unfortunately, the last blog comment of this year. darn.
These are two of my favorite pieces from this year:
I hope you like them, too!
Now, for my letter to any future AP art students:
Dear youngster,
My name is Noelle. Yes, it is christmas in french, and no I was not born on christmas. My grandfather's name was Noel, pronounced "Nole," and he died before I was born, so my mom wanted me to have his name in honor of him. Except I turned out to be a girl, so Noelle had to do. I am in AP art, and have been in AP art since the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year at Lakeridge High School. I have really enjoyed my time in this class, and I can't garuntee that you will, but I would say that if you invest your heart into your art and you make some friends in the class you will have a good time. My year has ben incredible; I learned how to paint, and well. Imagine that, learning to paint in an art class... I have made some lifelong friends. I have helped those friends grow as artists. I definitely feel accomplished because I took this class. Hopefully when you take this class, you will have the same wonderful experiences that I did. I mean, who could ask for more from a high school class? In art, we have freedom to create whatever our hearts desire. We can paint boobies! Or perhaps we could paint food, too! Or maybe even food on boobies or boobies on food! The possibilities are endless; and if you let your mind wander to where it wants to wander, I can garuntee that you will have a rather successful year.
All the best,
Noelle

Concentration Update
Concentration Words and Stuff
1.) The central idea for my concentration is: Focusing on the different feelings and intricacies of musical instruments by abstracting and altering their colors and viewpoints.
2.) The work that I have made so far in my concentration demonstrates an exploration of my idea because they all are musical instruments. Also, I have played around with the different color palettes to emphasize a certain kind of music or mood associated to the musical instrument being painted. I have also enlarged the image my paintings are based off of so that one can only see a certain part of the instrument. This is because I wanted to focus in on the different intricacies of each musical instrument without making it obvious on which instrument is shown.

Concentration Progress
Hello everybody,
I do believe that there are only a few moths left before we finish our concentrations! How exciting... :)
My concentration is an exploration of the colors and structures of musical instruments. I really feel like I am getting somewhere with my concentration because I have grown as a painter. My first piece that I made was really bad, and I felt lost at the beginning... But, I think I was able to turn it around and find my niche as an artist.
I would like to think that my work is very colorful and detailed. Many people have told me to keep working on the large reflections aspect of my work for the rest of my concentration; however, many people have also expressed to me that they like my smaller, more detailed work. I don't know what to do! I like both of the techniques, and neither is easier or harder than the other, so I am at a loss of direction. Suggestions? :)
Here is the first painting that I did:
I really need help with deciding what to do to make it look better. Should I keep the same general feel and just enhance it with shadows? Or should I completely start it over? I know that something needs to be done to it because it doesn't fit in with the rest of my concentration... :( sad day... Anywho! Help is needed! <3
Love,
Noelle
